Timing Belt ReplacementThe Timing Belt (on vehicles so equipped) Is responsible for maintaining the proper timing between the pistons and valves in your engine. If the Timing Belt fails, this proper timing is lost and will result in the engine quitting at the time of failure. This usually happens without any warning. On some models that have an interference engine the pistons and valves can collide without proper timing, severe damage is likely to result! Most manufacturers recommend replacement of the Timing Belt between 60,000 and 105,000 miles. What we have found is that the Timing Belt is not usually the part that causes a failure. This failure is usually caused by a bad idler pulley bearing, Timing Belt Tensioner, Waterpump, or even by oil leaks from one of the seals in close proximity to the Timing Belt. We strongly recommend replacing these other components at the same time as the timing belt. This is so that you can expect to make it to the next replacement interval without a problem. Some shops advertise low prices for timing belt replacement. Most often these prices do not include replacement of these other components that are vital to the reliability of your vehicle. If you have questions you can give us a call at 703-698-0888 or Email us at precisionimport@yahoo.com, we will be happy to discuss this matter with you.

Precision Import Service...was founded by Pete van der Vate in 1980. For over 27 years his shop in Merrifield provided customers with a lasting commitment to honesty and value. In this time the automotive industry has continued to push the technological envelope at the same time the government has introduced new regulations governing automotive efficiency and emissions of harmful gases. This has created changes to the vehicles we work on that requires us to learn and evolve in order to continue to provide quality service. Continued training as well as the latest tools have allowed us to stay on top of these changes and to provide what we believe is the best service available. In February 2008 Pete passed this on to Don Brown and his business partner Steve Wynkoop. Together they plan to continue to provide our customers with the best value they can. Don has been an employee of Precision Import Service since the beginning. He is an exceptional technician with uncanny intuition and plans to use his experience in the auto repair field to move Precision Import Service forward. Steve also has extensive experience in the auto repair field. His easy going demeanor and perpetually bright outlook make him a great person for our customers to deal with. This is why he will be the new face you will see when you come in the office. So just keep in mind, we can take care of all of your maintenance, and general repair needs.
